Food, Folk Art, and Fun at the Carolina Q
Cup
COLUMBIA, SC – The Carolina Q Cup World Barbeque Championship competition will
be held on October 6-7, 2006 in Shed 14 of the Columbia State Farmers Market,
1001 Bluff Road in Columbia.
On Friday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will be the “Anything But”
competition. Anything Butt is the competition in which cookers can prepare and
serve “anything but” barbeque. Adding to the festive atmosphere of the evening
will be the music of the Carolina Rebels and Devils in Disguise. For more

Doors will open for the Carolina Q Cup celebration at 10 a.m. on Saturday,
October 7th, judging begins at 10 a.m. and sampling at 10:30 a.m. While tasting
barbeque from as many as 40 or 50 competitors, participants will also have the
opportunity to roam through the 100,000 square foot building viewing the
outsider and folk art on display and listening to more live entertainment.
On Saturday, at the Carolina Q Cup competition, music will be provided by The
Black Bottom Biscuits at noon followed by Tom Hall and the Plow Boys. For more

The cost to participate in Anything But to sample everything but barbeque is $5
per person and for the Carolina Q Cup is $10 per person which allows each guest
to sample the myriad of barbeques, listen to good music, and view (and purchase)
the folk art on display.
