FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE “Anything But” to launch the Carolina Q Cup Cookers participating in the Carolina Q Cup World Championship competition and barbeque sampling on Saturday, October 29th will have the opportunity to prepare and serve “anything but” barbeque on the eve of Saturday’s Carolina Q Cup. Entries in the “Anything But” competition include shrimp pilaf, cornbread salad, beef brisket, shrimp on a stick, seafood stew, and other delightful non-barbeque foods. The cost to sample at “Anything But” will be $5 per person which entitles each guest to a satisfying portion of “anything but” barbeque prepared by the cookers. The prestigious Carolina Q World Championship competition will be held in Shed 14 of the Columbia State Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 29th. Doors will open at 10 a.m., judging begins at 11 a.m. and sampling at 11:30 a.m. After tasting barbeque from as many as 40 or 50 competitors, participants will also have the opportunity to vote for the “people’s choice” award. Prizes will be awarded to a limited number of barbeque teams and families deemed as the best of the best. The Grand Champion will receive the coveted silver Carolina Q Cup and an addition bonus award. Award presentations will begin at 2:30 p.m. The cost for sampling barbeque at Saturday’s Carolina Q Cup is $10 per person. Each guest will be served a portion of barbeque prepared by the competitors on wood and gas grills. Children 12 and under accompanied by a parent will be free.
